The colors today in some places are more spectacular than what we saw yesterday. |
We pulled out of the place we stayed last night, Ishpeming, Michigan. We'd tried to call a friend but couldn't get hold of him (Norm and his wife Linda), although we later got a call back, but we were a couple hundred miles away by then. But we're known for traveling back through places so you never know when we'll show up again.

I'd been looking for dirt roads with lots of trees. Thee aren't any reds but it's still a pretty spot. |
So it was on to looking at the colors and wandering in a leisurely way to Sault Ste. Marie, a city that connects Lakes Huron and Superior. Half of the city is in Michigan, half is in the Canadian province of Ontario, twin cities, two different countries.\
Some of the reds and pinks of the leaves are incredibly colorful. |
Yep, love the roads. |
This home has the most beautiful yard and brilliant colors ... what a nice view everytime you come home or look out a window. |
We spent the day stopping to photograph colors here and there, letting me get an ornament in Christmas, Michigan, and finally arriving at our destination at about 2 p.m.
This 4-year-old Beagle named Daisy was the meeter and greeter at where we checked on boat tours. She looks a lot like our Jade when she was younger, and she doesn't seem to be nearly as crabby. |
The first thing we did was check on when they do lock tours. That's on tomorrow's schedule.
The Tower of History has two observation decks, and a small museum. The observation decks were of the most interest to me. |
Hobbs liked this painting in the museum area. |
Ships go through locks here, and we watched one from up on the Tower of History. It took quite a while, but we saw it come slowly through and then continue on into Lake Huron. It was fun to see from above and I'm sure will make some of what we learn tomorrow fall into place.
We weren't the only ones enjoying the view. |
Yep, an electric company, Edison. |
The ship leaving the lock and sailing into Lake Huron. |
Food, motel, a little tv, some blogging. I think that's enough for today. Early bed, and I hope not too early to rise. I need to sleep in.
